Did you know?

Studies show you will get fewer cavities if you eat an entire bag of candy in one sitting, and then brush your teeth, than if you eat candy slowly throughout the day without brushing.

Periodontal Disease

Periodontal disease, also known as gum disease, is an infection of the tissues that support your teeth. The disease attacks just below the gum line causing supporting tissues to break down. Plaque is the cause of gum disease. There are two stages of periodontal disease; gingivitis and periodontitis. Gingivitis is milder and reversible and only affects the gums. Gingivitis can be eliminated by brushing and flossing daily. If gingivitis is left untreated, it can lead to periodontitis. The gums and bone that support the teeth become seriously damaged and can make teeth loose, fall out or have to be extracted by your dentist. Gum disease can be prevented by having good oral hygiene and having regular visits to your dentist. You should brush your teeth at least twice a day, clean in between your teeth daily and eat a well balanced diet.
